Fridays are always action packed days! We're struggling to get projects done for the weekend, and everyone's keen to get their weekend going early! We had a surprise visit on Friday from Drew Hastings of Ontario. Drew has recently completely restored an MGC -- so it was a great surprise to him to find TWO MGCs in our shop. Drew enquired after a steering column repair and later purchased a UML Technical Book. He's looking forward to the Summer Party Extravaganza next August.

Curt replaced most of the brake lines on this MGC during the day. Despite being advertised as a LHD American specification brake line kit, we had to modify half the lines either because the lengths were incorrect or the ends were wrong! But, in the end, it's looking pretty good.

Casey worked away all day on a 1275 Midget, replacing the battery and performing an "October Special," even though it's November. Later he replaced the slave hose and starter motor on a late model MGB -- then moved the Sunbeam Alpine back onto his hoist to complete the installation of the rear hub oil seals.

Peter Koptic, an XK 120 Coupe owner right here in Ada, brought around a case of Castrol Syntec oil that his neighbor no longer needed; we received a call from Monty Montieth who was working with the brakes on his TD in Senatobia, Mississippi; Jon Tellier, whose father passed onto him a 1964 Midget which he'd purchased new, called to arrange an appointment; and John took several calls at Tech Time. All day long Lisa called for a "Rio Day" as in Brazil. Rio is east of Grand Rapids by two hours -- so a Rio day would move the clock ahead by two hours. We sometimes have Newfy days as Newfoundland is 1/2 hour ahead of EST, but rarely do we have Rio days, despite the clamor for it!

John finished repairing a TD with a bent rear axle (very, very rare), and then went onto Al Maki's TD (shipped to us from Alaska), to sort out the engine venting. John created a copper gauze oil separator to allow the fancy side cover to vent -- something it wasn't doing before, hence pressurizing the engine and blowing oil everywhere. The repair worked great!

Trevor polished up the housing for a late model MGB brake servo for Stephen Parish of Texas so that we could have it yellow zinc plated -- the color approximates the old yellow cadmium plating.

Call us about our February Technical Seminars!

On Saturday, Veteran's Day, Chris Longcore and John Twist will be making a video -- the "Talking Tour of the Mark IV MGB" which we'll soon advertise for sale!

Ted Mack, from Tallahassee, Florida, came into the shop today to collect the engine for his MGB. We had built it up and then run it on a test stand for half an hour or so -- just to make certain it was working, and to get it hot so we could re-torque the cylinder head and re-adjust the valves.

By the end of the day, we had a full house -- SEVEN! T types (six TDs, one TF); two Sunbeam Alpines, two MGCs, one XKE, and a host of MGBs.

A reminder that we are CLOSED on Saturday and Sunday during the winter.

We had a surprise visit by two long-time customers from the Chicago area -- Mike Cobb and Jeff Powell -- whom we've known nearly 30 years! Jeff regaled us with stories about his TC racecar which lost its differential bearings just before it lost its steering. Jeff is reworking his TC, crack checking each part as he goes. Mike was sporting his "Yale" cap as his daughter just started school there.
