University offers a host of restoration services. Not only can
University perform these services, but we can offer sound advice
to those about to embark on an MG restoration at home! Each model
MG requires a different sequence of steps to ensure an excellent
product.
For those who wish a "complete" restoration for an MGA or T
type, the cost can easily reach $30,000; the Midget or MGB/MGC
is much less at about $15,000. Most owners approach restoration
in smaller, less costly steps. We are pleased to assist in any
part of the restoration.

Soft Top Replacement
University has used AMCO tops for MGB and Midget, for nearly 20
years. Nearly all the MGs in the Grand Rapids area sport these AMCO
hoods. The T series and MGA hoods are supplied by Moss, and require
a new wood bow tack strips.

Seats
After years of use, the driver's seat, at least, becomes tattered,
torn, and collapsed. The diaphragm replacement is an inexpensive
repair and can give the driver a real lift! University purchases
their seat kits from Moss. We are very pleased with the quality!

Interior Panels
Once the seats are recovered, the remainder of the interior appears
shoddy! Ragged edges, worn spots tears, and gaping, unused speaker
holes detract from an otherwise beautiful vehicle. T Series (Deluxe
Kit, including wood repair and dash recovering.)

Carpeting
At first, this appears to be a quick job. But with seat removal,
console and armrest removal, and some interior panel work, a good
carpeting job takes all day!

Dashboard Coverlay
The top of the plastic dashboards 1968-1980 often crack from exposure
and age. This coverlay is a very low priced alternative to dashboard
replacement.

MGB Bonnet Insulation
The bonnet insulation as originally fitted is often missing or found
in mice nests. MGBs without this insulation have a much greater
engine drumming transmitted into the cockpit. The bonnet insulation
is not to keep the engine warm, but to protect the driver's ears.

Windscreens
What a difference a new windscreen will make! Old, scratched, pitted,
pocked, fogged, or cracked screens make night time driving a danger.
In rain an old screen is nearly translucent compared to the clarity
offered by new glass. Insurance may not cover all the expense.

Side Window Operation
The door windows in the MGB, MGC, and Midget should glide up and
down, with only a light push on the window crank. Today, this is
often not the case. The mechanism has corroded and the tacks have
rusted. Let us service your windows so that they operate more freely
than they have in years.

Production Restoration
We have developed a production restoration schedule by which we
can perform a beautiful body restoration in a step by step process.
The entire process takes about 100 hours. And to the labour: the
paint, the rust repair, the new parts, and a price of $7,000 - $15,000
is quickly reached. We are pleased to provide more detailed estimates,
and provide references for our work.
